Which Gatwick Airport Hotel is for You?

Hi, my name's Karen Madison.  I recently came back from a long journey from Orlando Florida.  However our flight had been delayed by 4 hours so by the time we got back to the UK it was gone 10pm.  We had missed our train home and were very tired!  We checked into a Hotel at Gatwick Airport.

I've created this website to give you the low-down on the best Gatwick Airport Hotels available as I know next time I'll be planning a holiday that includes the break between flying to make the trip that much more manageable.  I hope someone finds this useful.

So you want to find a hotel that suits your budget? Luckily there are many hotels on and around Gatwick Airport. Off-site there is so much choice is can be hard to know which is right for you. I’m going to walk you through the best options for your money, including both on and off-site hotels. Let’s start off with the ones that are on site.

ChatGatwick Hilton Hotel
This Hotel is connected to the south terminal of the airport and is accessed via a covered walkway which takes a little as 5 minutes to get to from the reception of the airport. A lot of big airlines these days allow you to check in the night before. So all you need to do is to check in, get your tickets and head off to your hotel for the night. This hotel has everything you need on-site so you won’t need to go back into the busy airport, it includes 2 bars, 2 restaurants, tea-coffee making services, a fitness room and of course luxury accommodation being a Hilton Hotel.

Sofitel London Gatwick Hotel
This is my favourite Hotel at Gatwick Airport. It is connected to the North Terminal and while the North doesn’t have as many flights (most people will fly from the South) there is a free monorail service in operation 24 hours a day so you can get to the other terminal within 5 minutes. This is probably the most expensive hotel at Gatwick, however I highly recommend it because of the facilities it offers. It has all the features of the Gatwick Hilton such as bars, restaurants, tea-coffee etc. But there is also a Wi-Fi service which for some people (including myself!) is absolutely necessary. We need to have our technology with us at all times!

Courtyard by Marriot
This is the last hotel which I’m going to discuss that is on-site at Gatwick. However this one is slightly cheaper. Reason being is that you don’t get the luxury of the hotel actually being connected to the Airport itself. So you will need to get a shuttle bus to and from the airport which costs £2.50 per person and they run every 20 minutes. For some people this won’t seem much an issue but I would still recommend one of the 2 that are on-site at the airport. That aside though, the facilities that this hotel offers are just as good as the other 2! There is a lovely Mediterranean style restaurant which you can enjoy a nice meal in start relaxing for your holiday. The other major factor with this hotel is that there is parking available here where as there isn’t at the other 2.

Now I’m going to go through some of the hotels that are closest to Gatwick Airport. I don’t usually go for these hotels as I prefer to stay on-site. However I’m going through these as a lot of people prefer the cheaper option. There is also a larger selection of hotels off-site and because there are more the prices are far more competitive!

Acorn Lodge Hotel
This hotel is located only a mile and a half away from the airport so a taxi bill won’t cost you too much to get to and from the airport. You are able to store your car here while on holiday which is quite handy. You just go back to the hotel when you come back from holiday and they’ll collect your car and have it brought to you. Check-in is available from 2pm and check out time is 11am. That is quite a wide range of times for travelling and late check-out is available upon request for a small fee.

Ibis Gatwick
Located roughly about 2 and a half miles from the airport, so roughly a 10 minute taxi journey to the airport. It is a basic hotel, but still very modern and clean. There is a café so you can grab a bite to eat and there is also a 24 hour bar just in-case you feel the need to enjoy yourself with friends and a few drinks! After you come back from holiday, you may like taking a day or so to shop in London, in which case you’re in luck as there is easy access to the Gatwick Express train which is only 30 minutes from central London!

Holiday Inn Gatwick Airport
This is the last hotel I’m going to review that is off-site and I have stayed in this one previously. It is the one I would recommend, it is 3 miles away from the airport and is about a 20 minute taxi journey. If you book a taxi through the hotel though, they have a special deal with a taxi company and your trip is of a fixed price.

That’s all the Gatwick Airport Hotel I would go for based on price, facilities and hospitality. I hope you find one that is right for you and that you have a great holiday, wherever it is you’re going to.
